The United States recorded a total trade volume of $2.61 trillion in the first quarter of 2025. This total comprises $1.89 trillion in imports and $729.1 billion in exports, marking a 6% growth in imports and a 2% rise in exports compared to the same period in 2024. Mexico has officially surpassed the United States as its largest import partner, accounting for 15.2% of total imports, which translates to $509.98 billion. This milestone highlights the deepening of regional trade ties under the USMCA and Mexico’s increasing dominance in automotive and electronics manufacturing despite tariffs instituted by the Trump administration.
