Bots overtake humans in web traffic, bad bots hit record 37%

A new Imperva report reveals that bad bots now account for 37% of all internet traffic, marking the sixth consecutive year of growth. This also comes as automated traffic outpaces human activity for the first time in a decade, comprising 51% of total web traffic in 2024. According to the report, human traffic steadily declined from 59% in 2020 to 49% in 2024, good bots hovered between 15% and 18% and bad bots surged from 26% in 2020 to 37% in 2024, overtaking human shares.
